Smart Training
1.Concept
The concept of Smart Training revolves around the digital twin and allows for immediate discovery and training around an object, process, or system. The digital representation provides both the elements and the dynamic operation of a device. Smart Training was developed around technical training documentation and now allows for the effective use of these training procedures in virtual reality or 3D even when the operator does not yet have access to the equipment.
The application is organized into two main parts:
- The course support, or the CAD object, with all possible interactions added and defined.
- The course creation application retrieves various information from the course support to create procedures or courses.
2. Smart Training Advantages
The advantage of Smart Training lies in its simplicity and versatility. The goal is to no longer need to touch CAD and automatically generate the course support from it. With Smart Training:
Simplify and make interactions in the application generic, define conditions, steps, and important information.
Have exchange formats between the Course Creator application and the standardized 3D application.
Access default environments to add the object (Hangar, Office, Outdoor on a tarmac, Outdoor on grass, at sea…).
Import an object from a CAD file into virtual reality. Today, step zero integrates the ASSIMP plugin to automatically recognize possible interactions in the object's structure or to provide a tool to add them simply.
Add information about possible interactions on a part or set of objects to an object format.
Redesign the course creation application to directly load the CAD model, analyze it, and allow for course creation and launch in 3D or virtual reality.
3. Benefits of Smart Training
- Cost reduction: Creating a virtual reality application specifically for training on usage or maintenance allows for training without the need for the finished object.
- Reduced production time: It is also possible to test and train different people on usage before the solution is even created and without wasting time.
- Risk reduction: Training someone may also involve risks, risks due to the situation, the machine, or even the conditions under which they will be taken. With virtual reality, apart from the risks of injury in an office poorly adapted to virtual reality, they are almost nonexistent.
- Right to make mistakes: On the contrary, in virtual reality, one can make mistakes, one can blow everything up, and it will not matter except for a bad grade.
- Procedure testing and evaluation: With virtual reality, it is possible to technically evaluate procedures during their creation as much as if the object already existed but from the comfort of the office.
- Advanced communication tools: The advantage of virtual reality is that it is easy to use, and such simplicity makes it an excellent tool for daily communication.
